The Mayan calendar says it’s the end of an era in 2012. But is it the end of the world…?

2012: The Matan Prophecy

For reasons which are evident, the great 2012 Mayan Prophecy is the most widely discussed prophecy in modern times.

Though the precise manner of the ‘end’ is not specified, the prophecy states that the ancient Mayan and Aztec astronomical cycles point to December 21st 2012 AD as the end of an earth time-cycle. This, at least, is the interpretation of many who have learned to read the ancient Mayan calendar

So much has already been penned and spoken about regarding the 2012 Prophecy that I feel it’s best here to keep things to an absolute minimum.

This is your space, after all — it’s your shout, your call, your opinions and above all your participation that count.

In this regard I can only encourage you to share your thoughts and debate your views on this the impending 2012 time-shift. Jump on the forums and share your thoughts, opinions and comments. This could, after all, be one of the most important times in human history, if not the most important time, and certainly a moment for Conscious Apes everywhere to participate in the vision they hold for a new and better world.

To quote one of the greatest Conscious Apes of the 20th Century, Mahatma Gandhi, 2012 is a chance for us all to ‘Become the change you wish to see in the world’.

Nuff said. I’ll see you on the forums…

2012: Time And The Technosphere

To kickstart the debate, I’ll leave you with what 2012 instigator and Conscious Ape Dr. Jose Arguelles Ph.D. had to say about the prophecy in his 2002 book, Time And The Technosphere.

For the record, Jose Arguelles was the dude responsible for organizing and facilitating Harmonic Convergence back in 1987, which was seen as the start of the 25-year countdown cycle that culminates on December 21st, 2012.

Here’s what Jose Arguelles had to say about the 2012 Prophecy.

‘August 13, 3113 BC is as precise and accurate as one can get for a beginning of history: the first Egyptian dynasty is dated to ca 3100 BC; the first ‘city,’ Uruk, in Mesopotamia, also ca 3100 BC; the Hindu Kali Yuga, 3102 BC; and most interestingly, the division of time into 24 hours of 60 minutes each and each minute into 60 seconds [and the division of the circle into 360 degrees], also around 3100 BC, in Sumeria. If the beginning of history was so accurately placed, then must not the end of history, December 21, 2012 also be as accurate?’

I guess we’ll all have to wait and see.

In the meantime we’d really appreciate you sharing your take on the 2012 Prophecy. What’s your vision for the end of the world — and the beginning of the new one…?
