Fact or fiction? That was the question posed by Fox TV when in August 1995 it broadcast footage of an alleged alien autopsy—archive footage allegedly shot in 1947 of pathologists dissecting an ‘extraterrestrial biological entity’, ‘EBE’, as it was christened by the US military.

London-based film producer Ray Santilli apparently bought the alien autopsy footage for £100,000 from a retired military cameraman in 1993, and having attempted to have it verified by Kodak as genuine 1947 stock, was finally shot down in flames as virtually the entire UFO research community stood up as one and cried ‘FAKE’!

Most researchers now believe that the alien autopsy footage was indeed less than 100% authentic, although the true origin of the footage, and the real motive behind its emergence in the public domain, continue to be the topic of speculation and debate.

Some believe the CIA deliberately leaked the footage in full knowledge that it would be ridiculed and debunked, and that the existence of ET would be discredited as a result—all part of the US government’s ‘containment and disinformation’ strategy regarding UFOs and aliens, they claim.
