These three children from Fatima in Portugal claimed they received a message from the Virgin Mary - but did the Vatican cover it up?

In 1917 an apparition of the Virgin Mary was said to have revealed three secret prophecies to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal.
When the first two prophecies were eventually revealed in 1940 it turned out they related to the two world wars, referring to them as ‘God’s punishment’.
The third prophecy, on the other hand, was kept a closely guarded secret by the Vatican until May 2000, when what many believe to have been an ‘edited’ or ‘watered down’ version was finally published.
The prophecy seemed to centre on a particular Pope who would betray his flock and, as a result, be assassinated by a lynch mob as God’s punishment.
The Vatican claimed this prophecy related to the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II in 1981, but due to the obvious discrepancies involved, many believe this explanation was an attempt by the Vatican to cover up the real secret, which inside sources claim actually refers to the end of the world as depicted in the Book of Revelation.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? Has anyone else seen an apparition of the Virgin Mary, or any other message-bearing spirit? If so, are you willing to tell us what they said?
Alternatively, are there any Vatican insiders out there willing to spill the beans about Fatima?
Prophecy or conspiracy—holy vision or holy cover-up?
We dare you to post your Fatima secrets here…
